Fall Colors and 70's vibes on the Queen Mary

Hello Everyone!  It's been a few weeks since I've posted.  The heat wave here has been very draining I have to say and it has slowed me down in creating content.  But Now that Fall season is slowly approaching I am ready to jump back to it.  Today I am showing you a budget-friendly outfit with pieces that were already in my closet and one new accessory all from Ross! Dress for Less.  I don't shop at Ross too often but when I do, I try to find pieces that is on trend so that I can at least wear for several seasons like this chevron print fit and flare dress.

Print Mixing

I experimented with mixing print and stripes the other day.  I normally would not wear two different prints or patterns in one outfit because it always tends to look too busy.  For years, I've felt uncomfortable wearing printed tops because somehow they just made me looked much older.  BUT, times have changed and so have I.  I find myself a bit more open in trying different styles and trends.  Not only did I start to wear prints, I began to have fun with them.  The key in print mixing is that the color of the fabric pieces that you are wearing has to be in the same family.  What I mean by that is if your are wearing a black/white print top then you should be wearing a black/white stripes bottom.

Here, I picked out the blue/white from the prints of the top and found these perfect navy blue/white stripes skirt to go with it.

Whatever you do, just remember the two prints should not compete but complement each other.

I finished the outfit with a very cute pair of buckled strap sandals. 

Are you ready to print mix your outfits?  It was a bit uncomfortable for me at first, but after wearing it out for a day, I started to get used to it.  Sometimes in life, you have to step out of that comfort zone a bit, to learn new insights and gain perspectives.

Teal, Ivory and Gold

Summer is officially here guys!  It's time to take out those dresses that you've hidden in the back of the closet.  I am showing you a green and white combo today.  Different shades of green are seen in the Spring/Summer 2015 runways everywhere and it's definitely one of the colors you should try to wear this Summer.  I finished the outfit with gold and ivory accents.

Scalloped Lace Top paired with Jogger pants

Summer is around the corner!  I can't wait to share with you some of the trends that I will be wearing for this season.  The trend that I will talk about today is a 80's look revisited.  If you are as old as I am, you would remember those days of high-waist jeans/trousers with shirts tucked into them.  To complete the look, most will have on an over sized jacket with the shoulder pads.  Let's not forget the fully blown feather hair that went with it too.

Well, lucky for some of us who still think of this 80's style is "chic" since this season is all about high waisted everything: from jeans, shorts to skirts.  Tucking in the shirt is still pretty "in" at the moment but I am seeing more cropped tops showing up everywhere.  If you are not into belly-bearing like me, this is the best time to wear your cropped tops, why? thanks to the high-waist jeans, we no longer have to be uncomfortable about bearing our midriff!

 Besides high-waist jeans, high-waist joggers are also a trend right now.  This season is all about casual and sporty styles.  But don't fret if you are not a sporty kind of girl because creativity is the key in dressing up.  You can simply pair stilettos or wedges with your joggers and can still look put together.  The outfit I am wearing here is the updated version of the 80's trend: scalloped lace crop top paired with high-waist terry joggers.  the look was completed with pointy flats- a shoe trend that has been around since last season and is still "hot" at the moment.

 The weather can get breezy during the day where I am at so I put on a boyfriend blazer minus the shoulder pads- a trend that I was never too thrilled about.

What I Wore

How about this for Valentine's Day outfit?  I am not really a fan for red color but I did want to incorporate bits of it for this occasion.  This skirt is more of a transitional piece from Fall to Spring, you will probably see more of it in my upcoming posts as Spring approaches.  Happy Valentine's Day Everyone! What are you all going to wear??

What I Wore

I put on this cream lace dress to attend a Christmas event at church.  I matched it with black tights and black booties because I wanted to create a black and white color story, but if you want, you could put on something red, be it a scarf or a pair of heels to add a touch of the holiday spirit.  The Military jacket is my favorite right now as I can pair it with almost anything, whether dressy or casual.
